Description: Charter Boat Fishing trips from Clearwater, FL and Tampa Bay, Florida south are almost always going to produce Spanish Mackerel. Spanish Mackerel have a color of green on the back, shading to silver on sides, golden yellow irregular spots above and below lateral line; front of dorsal fin black; lateral line curves gently to base of tail.

Food Value: Great broiled or skinned and fried. Good smoked too.

Where Found: Entire Gulf of Mexico especially over grass beds and reefs; absent from north Florida waters in winter.

Size: Average catch less than 2 pounds (20-22 inches).
